  • Click on the mod you want, and you can set the mod priority.
  • For anyone still using Vortex here's some steps I put over on my guide: You can set the mod priority and load order no problem. It would seem you haven't clicked on the "Plugins" tab on the left. MO2 did this process more visually and made dragging and dropping load orders more straight forward. To help you (or anyone else) with this problem, Vortex has a multi-user mode and profile support.

As you said they're symbolic links, and they work fine for Skyrim VR and FO4VR. Vortex it informed me that this feature was not available for Skyrim VR

There are other issues I had with Vortex, for example there were certain mods that I had to manually add the the plug-ins into the plugins.txt, and unless I set it to read only it would erase them again, and other things I liked about MO2, like that I found the LOOT integration worked really well for plugin order, but these are the biggest factors that stood out for me.

Not only that, but with the portable version of MO2, I can take my entire MO2 directory, put it on a flash drive, transfer it to another PC, and have all my mods up and running there without reinstalling a single thing. MO2 however makes no alterations to my Skyrim VR folder, and in fact unless I run Skyrim VR directly from MO2, it will run an unmodded version of Skyrim VR. This means that if I want to start fresh with a vanilla Skyrim, I still have to uninstall all of my mods. My understanding going into this was that Vortex and MO2 would both "virtually" (no pun) deploy mods without adding any new files/directories to my Skyrim VR data folder, but upon installing mods in Vortex it informed me that this feature was not available for Skyrim VR and that it would have to create symbolic links. MO2 maintains the integrity of your Skyrim VR installation directory. In Vortex I felt like I needed to create a family tree on paper just to ensure correct load order.

For example, in MO2, if I want Mod A to have priority over Mod B and Mod B to have Priority over Mod C, they simply need to be ordered with the lowest priority mod first followed below by mods that take higher priority (Mod C is stacked above Mod B, and so on).Ĭlicking on any one of these mods will also color code conflicting mods, with lower priority mods (that get overwritten) in green and higher priority mods (that will overwrite the highlighted mod) in red. Mod B loads after Mod A, but before Mod C), MO2 did this process more visually and made dragging and dropping load orders more straight forward. Where Vortex would tell you verbatim where conflicts arose - after clicking a finicky link icon - and have you set a "rule" (eg. Both MO2 and Vortex will tell you when and where conflicts are found, but MO2 I felt did it in a much more intuitive way. Basically MO2 looks and feels more like NMM, whereas Vortex looks like a mobile app. After trying both Vortex and MO2, I came away strongly in favor of MO2.Ĭoming from NMM, MO2 is a more familiar setup than Vortex. I finally took the plunge and decided to move on from Nexus Mod Manager.
